Hendon Way Surgery is open during Covid-19 Pandemic
You can access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the free NHS App. You can access the app through a smartphone or tablet.
Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will be shown within the NHS App. We recommend that you register with the app before booking any travel.
If you do not have access to a smartphone and know that the country you are travelling to requires COVID-19 vaccination status, you can call the NHS 119 and ask for a letter to be sent to you.
This must be at least 5 working days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine. We expect the letter to take up to 5 working days to reach you.
The letter will be sent automatically to the address registered with your GP. 119 staff will not be able to see your address to check this with you.
Please make sure we have your current address details before calling 119.
Please do not contact us about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19
NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme has started in the UK.
When appropriate, you will receive an invitation to book.
Please do not call us to get an appointment until you are invited.
It is very important that you ensure we have your up-to-date contact details such as current mobile number and email address so we can get in contact with you.
Information on the vaccine is available on the NHS.UK website. For anything else, your GP surgery is open and if you need to get in touch, please ring us or visit our website.
Please do not come to the surgery unless you have an appointment.

Attending the practice during the COVID-19 pandemic:
In some cases you will be asked to attend in person.
Please ensure you are wearing a face mask when entering the premises. This includes all patients who believe that they are exempt from wearing a mask.
If possible, please attend alone, and not with any other members of the family.
If you are bringing a child for an appointment, please avoid bringing other family members.
Please attend on time.

Most consultations are now conducted by phone.
Be ready, with your phone switched on and keep it close.
Before the appointment, write down your main problems and any questions.
Sometimes a video consultation is necessary, please be ready for this (instructions will be provided).
If you have a rash, please take photos on your phone beforehand, and be ready to send in any photos of rashes (instructions will be provided).
We will book you on a telephone appointment list and any of our doctors will call you back on the day. The appointments are not specifically booked for a doctor which means any doctor who is available on the day will call you back.
If you are calling about a problem for a second time, please inform the receptionist/GP of this clearly at the time.
We ask that you DO NOT attend the surgery for any reason unless you have been advised and arranged by a Doctor or Nurse at the surgery.
Covid-19 sick notes: You do not need to contact your GP for a sick-note, you can self certify or 111 will be able to provide documentation of encounter if you are unwell.
NHS England have requested that online booking of appointments should be suspended.
August Bank Holiday Opening Times
The surgery will be closed from Friday 27th August 2021 at 6:30pm and re-open on Tuesday 31st August at 8:00am.
If you require medical advice when we are closed call NHS111 or if it is a medical emergency dial 999.
